Bosch develops Euro IV Enabled Technology for India
Significantly lowers emissions
Improves fuel efficiency
Chennai, Oct 25, 2005: Robert Bosch GmBH, the world’s largest automotive supplier will be introducing the Denoxtronic technology in India through its subsidiary Motor Industries Company Limited., (Mico). The Bosch Group intends to further ramp up its R&D competence in India in order to applicate this technology for the Indian and export markets.
Denoxtronic technology for Heavy Commercial Vehicle Segment
Diesel emission control options can be grouped into three categories: (1) engine design techniques, (2) diesel fuel related technologies, and (3) exhaust gas aftertreatment. Some of these methods are already implemented in today’s engines, while some others are still
under development and show promise for future applications. Denoxtronic is one of the aftertreatment options.
The Denoxtronic technology will be largely targeted at heavy duty vehicles used in the commercial and transport sector. Denoxtronic when used in conjunction with a SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalytic converter, significantly lowers nitrous oxide
emissions by up to 85 percent and particle emissions by up to 40 percent. It also gives up to 5 % better fuel efficiency. “This allows commercial vehicles to meet future tighter exhaust emission limits, which could not be met by using improved injection systems, up-to date combustion processes and exhaust gas re- circulation alone” says Dr. Ziegler, General Manager – Engineering and Application at Mico.
Denoxtronic is Euro IV / Bharat stage IV compliant and has already been established as an industry standard for commercial vehicles in parts of Europe. Bosch has already introduced Denoxtronic in Japan in the fourth quarter 2004 and in the European automobile market in the second quarter 2005. Euro IV / Bharat stage IV norms will be applicable in the Indian market only in 2010.
The Denoxtronic technology alongwith SCR has a modular construction. Vehicle manufacturers can easily and flexibly adapt the system to their different vehicle types and models. It can be used in conjunction with all current types of catalytic converters – both equilibrium and coated types.
In order to remain at the leading edge of technology, Bosch will continue to drive the 3S program – Safe (Sicher), Clean (Safe) and Economical (Sparsam) in India. 3S is Bosch’s corporate and product philosophy globally – to make mobility safe, clean and economical.
The strengthened presence of Bosch in India will entail significant benefits for the automotive industry and its customers in India and overseas.
