Bosch Donation for Akshaya Patra
Bangalore, Aug. 12, 2006: Reiterating its commitment towards corporate social responsibility, Bosch announced the donation of a distribution vehicle to Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-profit organization. The vehicle would be used for distribution of mid-day
meals to over 485 schools covered in and around Bangalore city, under this programme. The van was donated to the foundation at a simple ceremony in Bangalore.
Akshaya Patra was formed to address two most basic necessities of children in India - hunger and education. It provides unlimited, wholesome and nutritious mid-day meals to hundreds of schools in India. ”We are grateful to Bosch for this generous donation. We started with 1500 children in five schools in the year 2000 in Bangalore and today are able to extend this facility to 4,48,847 disadvantaged children in ten locations across the country which demonstrates the success of our programme. Bosch’s donation will help us extend our reach to cover more children”, says Akshaya Patra official.
On this occasion Dr. Albert Hieronimus, Managing Director, Motor Industries Company Limited (flagship of the Bosch Group in India) said, “Bosch has been actively involved in various social, environmental, cultural and health related activities. By making this humble
gesture of contribution towards Akshaya Patra, we recognize the important role children play in the future of our country”, he added.
