Mr V K Viswanathan was born on November 20, 1950 at Pappankulam in Tamil Nadu, India.

He is a Commerce Graduate from Madras University and a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is married and has a daughter.

After working for Hindustan Unilever Ltd. in many senior positions, Mr Viswanathan joined the Bosch Group in August 1998 and worked in its headquarters at Stuttgart, Germany for 2 years. He took over as Joint Managing Director of Bosch Ltd. in January 2001.

He was a Director on the Board of Robert Bosch India Limited, Bosch Rexroth India Limited and Kalyani Brakes Limited. He has also been the Vice President of ACMA (Automotive Manufacturers Association) in 2005-06. Under his leadership, Bosch Ltd. has witnessed a very healthy and sustained growth, besides overall value creation for all stakeholders.

He was seconded to Robert Bosch, USA in Feb. 2006 as Senior Vice President in the Automotive Electronics and Electrical Division and subsequently he became the Regional Head of the Electrical Drives in USA. He has returned to Bosch Ltd. in Nov. 2007.
