CPS is a product developed in compliance with the OSEK [(OSEK - Offene Systeme und deren Schnittstellen für die Elektronik im Kraftfahrzeug) - Open Systems and the Corresponding Interfaces for Automotive Electronics] standards for communication.

It is used in Electronic Control Units (ECUs) to facilitate the communication between the ECUs over the Controller Area Network (CAN). The network includes software components like CAN driver, Interaction Layer - to handle the CAN messages and Signals, Transport Protocol and Diagnosis Layer and Network Management Layer which are in conformance with the OSEK standards.

The Bootloader is a standard software component used in ECUs with flash memory for ECU software reprogramming. It can be embedded with the application software on the ECU in order to download the updated application. The Bootloader tool controls the reprogramming by communicating with the ECU by means of the CAN bus.
