Technology and the Automobile
In today’s age, vehicle applications are custom implemented for each domain, ranging from power train management to body electronics. With requirements for feature packed performance ever on the increase, it has become difficult for original equipment vendors to manage the increasing electrics/electronics complexity. Meanwhile conflicting requirements from the perspectives of legal enforcement, passenger comfort and dynamic aspects continue to add to the challenge.
The Automotive Heritage
Over the past 18 years, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited (RBEI) has developed in-depth system knowledge to span the entire automotive domain. With over 4500 employees, its architects and technical experts have contributed to software and hardware development projects in various areas including:
- Diesel Systems
- Gasoline Systems
- Chassis Control Systems
- Body Electronics
- Car Radios and Navigation Systems
RBEI is a 100% Bosch entity and a key BOSCH group development partner. Investments in state-of-the-art tools and technologies are combined with CMMI Level 5 certified processes to develop cutting edge features and products that are safe and reliable.
RBEI & AUTOSAR
RBEI is no newcomer to the concept of standard software. Our expertise has been built by successfully delivering Standard Core Software in several domains. No wonder then that the BOSCH Group was instrumental in setting up AUTOSAR as a standard of choice.
As a core partner of the AUTOSAR consortium, RBEI contributed extensively towards the development and validation of the AUTOSAR architecture. It has been an active participant since its very inception in Phase I and was a key player in realizing the Validator 2.0 program. RBEI brings to the table a valuable first-hand insight into the world of AUTOSAR.
CUBAS
RBEI is now able to leverage its extensive automotive expertise to the fullest in developing the Bosch suite of products and services. These offerings meet the complete set of customer requirements for basic AUTOSAR compliant vehicle application software. The suite consists of the following:
- CUBAS: Basic software
- iSolar: GUI based tool for configuration
- Engineering Services
CUBAS basic software is architected in compliance to AUTOSAR version 3 and allows OEMs to simultaneously reduce software complexity while improving their quality and reliability.
It is scaleable across the entire automotive domains spectrum, ranging from body electronics to chassis control to power train management. Scalability across product lines enhances the ability of OEMs to better manage their various programs.
CUBAS uses standardized interfaces that allow easy integration of functional modules from different vendors thus contributing to ease of customization. This readily offers flexibility in application modification and upgrade.
iSolar
OEM’s are faced with a wide range of choices in defining their application software. iSolar is an integrated solution for the development of AUTOSAR software that is capable of generating the basic software as well as handling configuration across all layers. With a user-friendly GUI interface, this tool helps you customize your application to perfection. The open architecture is customizable and allows plug in of new modules. The configuration editors and code generators help you manage the increasing shift from “programming” to “configuration”.

Engineering Services
Complementing our product and tooling solutions are a range of services designed to meet the various needs of developing AUTOSAR software. Installation or migration is handled by an on-site team that is supported from an expert team located off-shore. Customization services for the basic software are backed up with user specific tooling solutions. Completing the picture are our maintenance and support services.

The Advantage
The Bosch group is one of the foremost Tier 1 suppliers in the world catering to every major Original Equipment Manufacturer. RBEI successfully handles projects commissioned by industry majors with stringent quality expectations. Toyota, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Daimler AG, VW, BMW, Honda are Nissan are a few names in the long list of OEMs to whose programs we have contributed.
With expertise scanning all automotive domains, RBEI is well versed with the consumption demands of automotive software. CUBAS is resource optimized to deliver the most from the available critical system resources.
Our diverse customer base is matched by an equally diverse range of hardware platforms that have been supported. RBEI has been involved in developing software applications that reside on a variety of microcontroller platforms. In developing CUBAS, we call on our complete knowledge of automotive hardware.
Having supported OEM’s launch generations of vehicles and applications successfully, we understand your “time-to-market” needs better than anyone else. CUBAS will benefit from rigorous in-house use translating directly into series production capable software.
