Innovating technologies for a cleaner environment
World Environment day is of utmost significance to Bosch. Nearly 1200 patents out of the 3000 patents filed worldwide by Bosch are related directly to environmental protection and resource conservation. This passion has made Bosch a pioneer in Clean, Safe and Economical technologies worldwide.

Few highlights of environment initiatives practiced at Bosch in India
The flagship of Bosch in India, Mico resonates the same spirit. Under the Clean & Safe Environment Initiatives, Mico embarked on a pilot project in Bangalore called the Clean Air for Bangalore (CAB) in 2004. The project aims to create awareness regarding vehicle exhaust pollutants and its harmful effects, the need for periodic vehicle maintenance, providing tips on safe driving habits and the right procedure to test vehicle emissions, especially for diesel vehicles. The project is today being practiced across all company locations.

At Bangalore, around 2500 trees form a green cover of about 20% of the total plant area. Various species of fauna such as Spathoda, Banyan trees, Singapore cherry, etc. attract a variety of birds. The facility uses 100% recycled treated domestic wastewater for gardening and other activities, reducing fresh water consumption. It is focused to achieve ‘zero discharge’ of waste water by establishing ‘Reverse Osmosis system’. The facility has largely eliminated the use of hazardous chemicals.

The Jaipur facility is a ‘Zero discharge plant’ in terms of wastewater. It treats and recycles wastewater for use in various activities such as irrigation for landscaping / garden. The facility is also credited to being a CFC free plant, thus eliminating the emissions of ozone depleting gases into the environment. All the refrigeration units within the factory contain gases which are ozone friendly.

At the Nashik facility, various initiatives such as zero discharge of effluents and No Air Pollution have been implemented. The Plant is largely free from the use of hazardous material in all of its manufacturing processes. Its vast expanse of green cover is irrigated with recycled water. The facility now plans to use non-conventional energy resources as its next step towards environment protection. The company has also adopted a traffic island in the city and has been maintaining it for the last 12 years.
