Sensational yesterday, standard today.
As the world's largest independent supplier of automotive components, Bosch has had a decisive influence on the history of the motor car. Our groundbreaking innovations have repeatedly paved the way for new ideas in auto technology – changes that soon became almost impossible to do without. Two product anniversaries spanning more than half a century underline Bosch's technological supremacy this year.

75 Jahre reiner Zündstoff!

75 years of pure fuel

With Bosch fuel filters.

Believe it or not, auto manufacturers have been relying on high-quality Bosch fuel filters since 1930 – and their arrival caused a sensation. For the past 75 years Bosch has been the Number 1 component supplier to the auto industry through a combination of quality, technology and development. Even today, Bosch fuel filters ensure engines run smoothly and reliably. Valuable star- and coil-shaped filter inserts prevent dust, rust, organic materials and water reaching your engine, thereby enabling it to run perfectly and for a very long time.

Smooth driving, then as now
Modern fuel injection systems for diesel-  and gas-powered cars are high-precision instruments sensitive to even the minutest impurities in your fuel, which could cause damage, especially by particle erosion or water corrosion. Filters tailored to the needs of your make of car ensure the engine runs smoothly. Bosch has an extensive range of products covering most of the market and nearly all standard European car models.

Ten years of safe driving

With Bosch ESP.

Another sensation is celebrating its anniversary this year. In 1995 Bosch was the first manufacturer to offer ESP electronic slip protection in a serial car. Initially available only as an optional extra for top-of-the-range models, the active security system is now supplied as standard in 64 percent – and rising! – of all new cars in Germany. In 1999 Bosch sold its millionth such system. By late 2001 that figure had quintupled! In early 2005, Bosch ESP reached the 15 million mark.

Stability that can save lives
Anyone who' has ever been fortunate enough to benefit from ESP® in a hazardous situation knows the huge advantages it offers in terms of driving safety.  ESP® helps drivers remain on the desired course through coordinated braking of individual wheels.  Many scientific studies have shown that blanket use of the system could halve the number of skid-based accidents. With so much proof of the greater security it provides in traffic, ESP® will hopefully soon be part of every new car!

The 25,000 Lives to Save initiative
For the European Union, ensuring a high proportion of cars are fitted with security systems is also an important step towards realizing the goals it has set itself. By 2010, the EU wants to halve the number of road traffic deaths compared to 2000. Discussions are currently in progress at EU level about adding ERP® to the list of security measures that must be fitted in all serially manufactured vehicles.

Bosch was one of the first companies to sign the European Road Safety Charter. Among other things, it obliges Bosch to increase public awareness about the benefits of ESP and promote its use.

ESP: Sensational yesterday, but standard in all cars tomorrow? We are certainly working on that!
